Waiting for Baby: A Maternity Session Full of Sun, Play, and Quiet Anticipation

There is something sacred about the waiting.

The last few weeks before your world changes forever. The quiet anticipation. The way you hold your belly, knowing that any day now, you'll finally meet the person you've been dreaming about.

When this family invited me into their home to document their final days as a family of four, I knew exactly what I wanted to give them. Not stiff poses. Not forced smiles. Just them—playing, laughing, and soaking in the sun.

Because that's what waiting for your third baby feels like. It's not just about the bump. It's about the pause. The last moments before everything shifts. The way your other kiddos adjust, the way they kiss your belly, the way you all look at each other and wonder what's coming next.

We found the best sun spots in the house and outdoors. We played. We tickled. We ate popsicles. We let the kids be kids and the parents simply be.

And here's the thing I always tell my families: when you feel comfortable enough to be yourselves, the photos unfold in the most beautiful way. There's no pressure. No rush. Just connection.

By the end of the session, they told me it was fun. Relaxed. Exactly what they needed before the chaos of a newborn arrived.

That's my favorite compliment. Because it means I did my job.

When you look back at these photos, I want to remind you what waiting for your third baby felt like. The weight of your belly. The warmth of the sun. The sound of your children's laughter echoing through the house.

Because soon, you won't be waiting anymore.

Soon, there will be a new baby in your arms. A new rhythm. A new chapter.

And we'll document that magic too. But for now, we wait. Bellies and hearts soaked in sun.
